Presented is then not the wonderful gospel of Jesus Christ and it's changing power which is the Good News of the kingdom of God being at hand for those who repent and believe (Mark 1:15). I.e. tangible, touchable, to be experienced! Instead sheep are left behind with a heavy yoke and heavy burdens put on by men. The very opposite of the Master's promises.
Religious leaders whose inner eyes of understanding never had been enlightened. Jesus told them right away "blind leaders of the blind" (Matthew 15:14).
The apostle Paul knew about the human mindset and was praying constantly for believers that they may experience the riches of God:
"I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might." (Ephesians 1:17-19, ESV).
I believe many in the pulpit have never been at the spiritual place that surpasses human understanding. There could be a lot of head-knowledge, fleshly concepts and favourite doctrines that are being offered. I am neither blaming nor judging, for also the well-meaning only can offer what they have experienced themselves.
God is spirit, He is supernatural and all of us are created to closely fellowship with Him. We need to open our hearts towards Him, rely on Him as our loving Father and worship Him in spirit and in truth. We should ask Him to open our eyes, to lead us through His Holy Spirit into all truth that eventually will set us free.
However, my introduction was now much longer than I intended it to be. :-)
I actually only wanted to present the most influential single message on my spiritual development (besides others like Paul Washer's famous "Shocking Message"). Right from the beginning of my walk with Christ I loved all the powerful testimonies and the challenging messages that urged me to believe in the real almighty and unchanging God rather than some "once upon a time", tame, self-made, puny idol.
But please be forewarned now! If you are not a Christian you immediately will suspect Pastor Mike Yeager to be a maniac! He may seem to you to be a lunatic completely out of his mind. He is not the one who will gently draw you with a mild speech. The guy is really passionate and serious! That's what I like of all who fell in love with God. (Love sometimes hurts :-) ).
Even if you consider yourself to be a Christian and you feel comfortable where you're at, it is maybe not easy to stand Mike Yaeger and you might very well shake your head about some allegedly sectarian American pastor who obviously went overboard.
But if the the cry of your heart is to somehow seek the Kingdom first and to get more serious with God, then it is maybe for you. If you feel you're stuck in your walk and you don't know why, go and check this message out.
As for me, I listened to this 80-minute talk at least 25 times. I knew I didn't want to stay where I was. Once I was ice-cold and now I was on fire. Never wanted to become lukewarm or to slide back. Rather wanted to pursue divine holiness (not man-made so called holiness). This sermon always touched me at the very core and in my spirit I knew that Mike Yeager is right. We must experience God.
To experience the resurrection power requires our willingness to be shaped by our creator, sustainer and judge to be conformed into His image. To allow our self to die. That's the only thing we have to agree on.
I remember as I was listening to the talk in 2008 while out for a walk, I prayed for an hour or so afterwards. I really had a longing and a desire for the close walk with Jesus, he mentioned. As I than randomly opened my Bible the verse Daniel 12:10 struck me:
"Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel (Geo): for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words."
Now, that was a promise of God! I grabbed it and still keep it.
Enough said. If you want to give it a try, then check it out.
